One winter when I was a little girl, The snow began to fall and the wind began to whirl, then they canceled our school, And my daddy picked me up, he drove through the storm, but just about the mailbox our car became stuck. Daddy grabbed me by the hand, wrapped my scarf around me tight, and that’s when he said, “Come on darling, I’m walking you home, we can’t sit here all the night.”
One summer when I was a little child, I ran away from home. I rolled my blanket and stuffed my favorite toy into my pillowcase from the last night. Mommy kissed my head and said goodbye while the stray tear she wiped aside. As I trudged down the walk I saw my daddy pull into the drive. He stepped out of his truck and soon caught up to me with his long stride. He clasped me by the hand and said, “Come on darling, I’m walking you home, we’ll have some pudding or lemonade.”
One fall when I was yet a boy, I took the dog for a run with my bike. Around the corner where the gravel was soft, we were tangled mess, with a fright I fell down hard. my daddy came running for he saw the whole thing, and helped me up carefully for the wounds started to sting. He clasped my hand without the scrapes and said, “Come on darling, let’s ge clean you up, I know that it hurts be brave while you cry I’m walking you home now.”
Then One spring day and a new morning dawned, I found myself next to an old man beneath a sheet and hospital gown. His breathing was weak and his brow creased with a frown. So I clasped his frail, feeble hand. “What are you doing?” He asked. I cleared my throat, drove away my tears and spoke in a confident tone. “Come on darling, Let me clean you up, We’ll have some pudding or lemonade. I’ll sit here the day or all night. Be I’m walking you home.”
